For Taiki Suzuki, presenting a vision of fused culture and stylistic design has always been the driving force behind his brand, Engineered Garments. In creating his latest collection for the Fall/Winter 2023 season, Suzuki returned to his roots and spoke about his signature outdoor, his Americana style.
The Engineered Garment aesthetic was born out of Suzuki’s love of natural beauty, influenced by designers who grew up in Hirosaki, Japan. As such, elements of outdoor gear were an important part of the brand’s early design philosophy and have remained his core brand identity ever since. Now, outdoor Americana his style carries over into the brand’s latest collection, marking a return to the brand’s roots.
This collection is a perfect example of blended style and intelligent styling. Contemporary jackets in shell, cotton and suede fabrics appear alongside relaxed nylon pants, graphic hoodies and geometric wool her ponchos, while houndstooth suits in warm tones are complemented by soft waistcoats and prints. buttoned down her shirt. But that’s just the beginning of the story. From boxy-cut striped plaid shorts, indigo girlfriend denim, crimson red monochromatic ensembles, and quilted coordinating sets, the collection masterfully captures the beauty of the mix.
This collection is for all markers of elevated outdoor style. Elsewhere in the collection are hybrid suits, reconstructed wool jackets, corduroy cargo pants and modern kimono tops. Collection highlights include knitted jackets and poncho-style pieces in orange, camel, wheat and azur blue, quilted nylon outerwear in classic shades, and relaxed multi-design suits.
