First episode of Fox’s new reality series Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test We saw 16 celebrities show up to answer the call of duty. But by the end of the episode, four of them were already gone.
The show, which premiered Wednesday night, follows a group of stars known only as “recruits”, identified by an assigned number, as they compete in a series of boot camp-style challenges based on real-life military exercises. I’m here.
The cast includes Danny Amendola (former NFL star), Melanie “Mel B” Brown (Spice Girls), Hannah Brown (bachelorette), Tyler Florence (famous chef), Kate Gosselin (John & Kate Plus 8), Dwight Howard (NBA star), Montell Jordan (R&B star), Gus Kenworthy (Olympic skier), Nastya Liukin (Olympic gymnast), Carly Lloyd (former soccer player), Beverly Mitchell (Seventh Heaven), Kenya Moore (Real Housewives of Atlanta), Mike Piazza (former MLB star), Dr. Drew Pinsky (Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew), Anthony Scaramucci (Former Trump White House Communications Director), Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoe 101).
Gosselin struggled with the experience from the start, as recruits had to run two miles through Jordan’s 100-degree Wadi Rum desert to reach base camp.
“You should have been wearing tracksuits, not pajamas,” one of the director’s staff told Gosselin.
The first day of training brought the recruits their first task to complete. It’s about jumping backwards from a helicopter into the ocean below. Gosselin cried because she was afraid of heights and water.
One of the DS agents explained that recruits had to “do what they were told” to pass the task.
“I want to do that so much,” said a smothered Gosselin.
Piazza, an MLB Hall of Famer and fellow recruit, first tried diving. After his retirement, the 53-year-old said opportunities like the show “rejuvenated him” and successfully completed the dive.
Gosselin went next and continued crying in the helicopter from anxiety and fear. fell into the water.
“It hurts,” she said after getting out of the water after hurting her neck while diving.
Mel B and Chef Florence both completed their dives after Gosselin, but were given the Bear Crawl punishment for Florence’s attempt to butt fists with one of the DS agents.
“The new recruits are not up to our level. We are not here to be their friend,” said DS agent Remi Adeleke.
Meanwhile, the doctor who examined Gosselin’s neck pain dealt yet another blow to the reality star. With all due care, they had to take Gosselin to the hospital for an X-ray. did not.
“I don’t want to go home. Please don’t make me,” Gosselin tearfully begged the doctor.
“My main goal is to walk away feeling proud of myself, because this is not for the faint of heart.” I even managed to finish the first day.
Spears was the last recruit to join the dive after Gosselin left. The 31-year-old woman kept her back straight as her agent advised.
After coming out of the water, Spears vomited up the fluid and tearfully said, “I didn’t know the experience would affect her like that.”
Being close to the water made Spears recall the “worst experience” she had had. It’s the day she had to jump into the pond to save her 8-year-old daughter Maddy from her drowning.
The DS agents met after the dive to discuss the recruit’s performance and decided to call Spears for “tactical questions” after the post-dive “meltdown”.
After growing up in her famous sister Britney’s shadow, Spears said she “wanted to be here” so that she could “feel worthy of myself.”
“Every time I work really hard to get something for myself, it feels really worthless,” she explained.
And although she “loves” and is “proud” of her sister, Spears still felt that she “couldn’t have anything for herself.”
Dr. Pinsky, 63, after spending 14 hours in the desert Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew I went to the doctor complaining of headaches and nausea due to severe dehydration. Pinsky eventually became the second recruit because he was “medically withdrawn” from the course.
The DS agents then pulled the rest of the recruits over for a “spot check” to see if they were keeping their water bottles full as instructed. Not everyone had a full water bottle, so new recruits were punished with a “bee sting” exercise. This is a challenge similar to a grueling obstacle course.
As the second day began, the DS agents instructed the recruits to line up from strongest to weakest. NBA All-Star Howard wins the strongest seat, Seventh Heaven Actress Mitchell was the weakest.
The recruit was then taken to the desert for a second task, “learn to move like a special operator.” The task turned out to be for him to traverse a 300-foot-wide canyon with a single wire, like a tightrope walker, 200 feet from the ground.
Howard, 36, went first but before he could take a step he admitted “I can’t do that” and eventually fell off the line before getting caught in his harness and being lowered to the ground.
Florence admitted he was “really reserved about doing this” when his turn came. Thus, he became the first recruit to voluntarily withdraw and the third to do so.
Olympic gymnast Liukin, 32, was the first to successfully cross the canyon, followed by former NFL player Amendola, 36, and Olympic skier Kenworthy, 31.
The agent then called basketball star Howard and questioned him about his ego and demeanor.
“I’m fine. If I hadn’t taken this seriously[ly]I wouldn’t be here,” Howard said.
The recruit’s next and third task was also the first combat task. They had to contend with one of his DS agents who wore a red padded suit for the occasion.
Mel B, 47, was the first to successfully fight and knock the DS agent to the ground. “It’s an ongoing healing path that I always follow,” she said of her recovery from an abusive relationship and channeling her aggression.
Ryukin, on the other hand, admits that he “didn’t want to hit anyone,” showing no aggression, barely fighting his opponent, and failing the mission.
R&B star Jordan was one of many recruits checked out by medics after the battle.
After the episode ended, DS agents summoned 41-year-old Mitchell for questioning. “I don’t want to do it because I don’t want to fail. I’m almost afraid of succeeding.”
At the end of the second day, the recruits were again asked to line up from strongest to weakest.
This time, however, Howard has changed positions from first to third behind Amendola and Kenworthy. After a meeting with his agent, Mitchell, with newfound confidence, moved himself up from his weakest position over Mel B. single Hannah Brown, the star, and former White House secretary Scaramucci, who remained last.
“Only those who can bounce back go through this course,” said DS agent Jason Fox.
