Keenan Cahill, one of YouTube’s first faces, has died of complications from heart surgery.
The 27-year-old died Thursday afternoon, his manager told TMZ. He was on life support after undergoing heart surgery on Dec. 15.
Cahill was one of YouTube’s first faces, amassing over 700,000 subscribers over the past 12 years. In his video with 50 Cent, he lip-synced “Down on Me” together and got over 60 million views.
Other celebrities Cahill has played with over the years include Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, David Guetta, and Katy Perry.
He also released two albums and several singles in 2013 and 2014.
But over the last few years, he’s been uploading content less frequently.
Cahill was diagnosed with Maroteaux-Lamy syndrome when she was one year old. Over time, their organs become inflamed, scarred, and eventually atrophied.
Cahill’s aunt set up a GoFundMe page to help cover his medical and funeral expenses and has raised over $15,000 to date.
“Because of his rare disease, he underwent countless surgeries during his short life, including a bone marrow transplant,” reads the GoFundMe. Everyone who knew him will miss him.”
DJ Pauly D shared a tribute to Cahill. tweet a photo them together.
“Rip Keenan,” he wrote. “Thank you for always making the world smile.”
