Yami Gautam, who was recently nominated for Best Actor (Female) for her performance in ‘Thursday’ at the Filmfare OTT Awards, recently spoke about why she won’t be seeing her year-end roundtable with her colleagues. The actor has made two very different films this year with digital premieres on Thursday and Dasvi. In Disney+ Hotstar’s A Tuesday, she plays Naina, a schoolteacher who holds young schoolchildren hostage to talk to the Prime Minister. In Dasvi, which premiered on Netflix and starred Abhishek Bachchan, she is a prison warden who encourages Abhishek’s character to complete his education and pass the board exam.
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Yami said she was not interested in participating in the roundtable. Most of us have made our careers doing interviews. It has nothing to do with journalists. There are so many (roundtables) now that it concerns the whole system. “
She added: We have a lot. We understand that everyone needs to create segments and create stories. But there was a time when I, as an actor, felt like I should have been on the panel too, but you weren’t invited. Why would you want to contribute to a system like this when you’re in a position? That’s not proof that I’ve arrived. If I’m good at my work and the audience likes my work, they’ll know it. “
Yami, who married film director Aditya Dhar in June 2021, will next star in Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary’s drama Lost, playing a Kolkata journalist. In 2023, she also has her Netflix movie Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga with Sunny Kaushal and she will also appear in her OMG 2 – Oh My God! She also featured Pankaj Tripathi 2.
