On Tuesday, February 7, at 7:00 pm, Sue Smolen Love will read her poems at the Blue Heron Coffeehouse as part of The 1st Tuesday: Writers Laureate Series. The reading will be followed by a short Q&A session, book signing and an open mic. This event is free and open to the public.
Su Love is the author of six collections of poetry, some of which have been published as Su Smallen. Among them are ‘Buddha’, ‘Proof’ which was named a Minnesota Book Award finalist, and ‘Weight of Light’ which was nominated for Pushcart’s Press His Editor’s Book Award. Her work has been awarded the Jane Kenyon Poetry Award, notably at Vermont Studio Center, Jerome Foundation and Tofte Lake Center, St. Croix Watershed Research Station, Minnesota State Commission for the Arts, Unamuno Author Series in Madrid, Spain, and Ireland. Salmon Literary Center in County Clare. She received a Personal Creative Support Grant in 2023 through the Minnesota State Commission for the Arts. Sue was a founding member of the Laurel Poetry She Collective. The Laurel Poetry Collective is a small newspaper company that has been publishing excellent books and broadsides for ten years. She has taught in the Graduate School of Creative Writing at Hamline University and has been a visiting artist at several colleges and universities.
