Thiruvananthapuram– The country’s film industry is undergoing a major transformation, and in today’s situation, the audience is no longer a student, and for the greater good of the industry, the ‘master’ must turn into a student.
Another shift that has significantly changed the industry is the role of writers, the best example of which is how the South Indian film industry, especially the Malayalam and Tamil industries, will perform in 2022 compared to iconic Bollywood. You can see how you have progressed.
Another reason why the South Indian film industry outperforms Bollywood is due to the diversity of production, content and subject matter.
“Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey” is an example of the successful blending of all the above elements of content, making and subject matter, making it one of the biggest hits in Malayalam.
Let’s see what happened in Bollywood in 2022. With the exception of ‘Drishyam 2’, there have been many flops, including one featuring superstars.
If you ask me what happened to Bollywood, I would say, in a nutshell, that Bollywood is a bit confused about what to make of it.
My personal opinion is that Bollywood should not be blindly imitative and entertainment should be more content centric. We point out that in 2023, Malayalam has a lot of potential. Same goes for Tamil.
At this point, I would like to emphasize that the audience is no longer a student, and that when the “masters” turn into students, it can be an easy sailing for them and the industry as a whole.
On a personal note, 2022 will end as the year I lost my beloved wife to a rare disease. She was my biggest supporter and critic, but I’m sad that she hasn’t come to see my hugely successful films such as ‘Rorschah’. “Mukundan Associates” and “Kapa” are both active.
Maybe she sees everything from above. (IANS)
