Sad news from the sports world today as Andrea Thompson, the mother of NBA star Tristan Thompson, has reportedly passed away in Toronto.
TMZ was the first to report on the tragedy.
Andrea suffered a heart attack Thursday night, according to the outlet.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors tried to revive her, but to no avail.
Details are scarce at this time, and Thompson has yet to publicly address the situation.
Sources say he flew from Los Angeles to Toronto as soon as he received the news.
A source told Yahoo! News that Khloe Kardashian was by her side when Tristan landed in Toronto.
Outside of the sports world, Tristan is best known for his tumultuous relationship with Chloe.
Tristan and Khloe have two children together, but their relationship hasn’t been mild domestic bliss.
Thompson has been spotted cheating on Chloe several times, and she’s one of several women he’s welcomed a child to in recent years.
Last year, Tristan was sued for paternity by a Houston-based personal trainer when his surrogate mother was pregnant with Khloe’s second child.
While Chloe was clearly hurt by these indiscretions, she often revealed that Tristan was a devoted father and a loving partner, loyalty issues aside.
And she publicly credits his mother for raising a man who may suffer from self-control issues but who is otherwise very respectful in his treatment of women. .
Neither Tristan nor the Kardashians have publicly commented at this point.
TMZ reports that Khloe and Tristan took a private jet from Los Angeles to Toronto, and it’s not currently clear if the couple attended with their two children.
Tristan and Khloe recently spent a vacation together.
Chloe has a long history of supporting her exes during difficult times.
She famously spent weeks helping ex-husband Lamar Odom recover from a fatal overdose in 2015.
