On many levels, this breathtaking Tiny Desk from dodie felt like the ultimate cathartic release. The British singer and her band have arrived after over a year and a half of planning and COVID-related delays. And this will be her last behind-the-desk performance in 2022, capping off her much-anticipated return to the building after more than two years of pandemic-induced upheaval. Many of us who were fortunate enough to see it in person were quite teary-eyed at the end.
But it was also a release because both the music and the way Dodi and her band pulled it off were so magical.
