The Last of Us Episode 3 features the famous and heartbreaking music of Bill and Frank’s Last Days.
Our review said it “belongs in the same Untouchable Echelon as Ozymandias and Pine Barrens”. This was one of the greatest episodes of him ever put on television, and pop culture history would make it famous as such. ”
It follows the 15-year love story of Bill and Frank, survivalists and survivors bound by an apocalypse who become everything to each other until a bitter (sweet) end.
While you’re wiping away your tears, you may have noticed the music that plays as Bill and Frank spend their final “perfect” day together.

The Last of Us Episode 3: What’s the music playing during Bill and Frank’s final day?
Max Richter’s “On The Nature of Daylight” plays in the final act of Bill and Frank’s story in The Last of Us Episode 3.
Frank, now wheelchair-bound and frail, falls out of need after telling Bill he is ready to die. “Before the world fell apart there was nothing to fix this… just wait another day,” he says.
“Do you love me?” he asks Bill. “Then love me as I want.”

Music then begins to play, with Richter’s strings singing as the couple marries and sits together for the final meal.
The track has a long history in film and television, best known for its devastating impact on Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival. It was also used in episodes of Shutter Island, Stranger Than His Fiction, and The Handmaids His Tale.

Coming from Richter’s The Blue Notebooks album, the composer described it as follows: armed conflict. ”
It’s not hard to read a similar theme in The Last of Us, but the reason for using it in Episode 3 seems much simpler.
Also, the beauty of Bill and Frank’s relationship is the same as the nature of Nikko. There was time spent in the sun, but dawn always needs dusk.
