Broadbin — After a three-year hiatus during the pandemic, the Fulton County Association of Music Educators’ All-County Music Festival is back.
Broad Alvin Peirce band teacher Mike Graves said:
The festival, which began more than 30 years ago, draws students from every school district in Fulton County, along with Wells and OESJ, explains Graves, who is also president of the association.
The event was attended by over 200 music students selected based on teacher recommendations and graded from the New York State School Music Association Solo Festival.
The county music festival features a variety of ensembles, each with one traditional piece, one contemporary piece, and an inter-style third piece.
“In each county school, a typical band or choir has about 40 to 50 kids, and smaller schools are even smaller,” says Graves. “Balanced instruments are something we are not always used to or always have access to. It gives students a sense of what a real performing ensemble should sound like.”
The show takes place on February 4th at 3pm at Broad Alvin Perth High School’s Margaret Robin Browers Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
This year’s festival will feature the FCMEA Elementary Band, Middle School Choir, High School Band and the newly added High School A Cappella Ensemble (High School A Cappella Ensemble).
