Louisville, Kentucky (WDRB) — The Fraser Historical Museum in downtown Louisville celebrates the music of Kentucky.
On Monday, the museum announced it would add a monthly list to its “Fraser Weekly” called “Musical Kentucky: A Song for Each County.”
Listicles will be curated into a Spotify playlist of 120 songs, one from each county in the state.
“In 2023, we will add songs from 10 counties in alphabetical order once a month and complete the playlist in December,” Frasier communications and research specialist Simon Miners said Monday. Said in “Frasier Weekly”.
The museum’s “Cool Kentucky” exhibit includes a section called “Musical Kentucky,” which focuses on “the breadth, quality and global impact of Kentucky music,” Mayners said. The goal of monthly listicles and playlists is to supplement and expand that section.
The playlist includes songs from 1910 to 2022 and everything from country and bluegrass to gospel, indie, jazz, new wave, Motown, opera, jug band, emo, yodelling, “prison rock” and more. Includes songs. .
Miners emphasized that the list isn’t about “who’s a famous Kentucky artist,” but “a hodgepodge of legendary artists, moderately popular artists, and artists with six Spotify followers.” Did.
The list consists of each song, with a short description and connection between the artist and their country of origin.
Mayners said the first edition of the list covers 10 counties, from Adare to Boyd.
