Over the years, country singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert has become outspoken about supporting the LGBTQ community.The singer attended World Pride in New York City in 2019 with her husband Brendan McLaughlin, her brother, and her brother-in-law for the Netflix series “Y’all Means All.” released an original song called queer eyeHowever, some country music fans don’t consider Lambert’s support genuine.
Miranda Lambert stands by the LGBTQ community
In 2021, Lambert was interviewed by GLAAD about how he became a supporter of the LGBTQ community. The singer talked about supporting the music for her song “Tequila Does (Telemitry Remix)” and her song “All Kinds of Kinds” when her brother came out.
In an interview with GLAAD, Lambert also shared her opinion that country music is becoming more supportive.
“I think so and I like it. I’m very close with TJ. [Osborne]”In fact, we were texting about the video,” Lambert said in an interview. That’s pretty cool for I know Brooke Eden is another one.
She continues: In this way, people are just who they are. If we love their music, we can love them for whatever they are. ”
Miranda Lambert to perform at Jason Aldean’s concert
On October 14, 2022, country artist Jason Aldean held a concert in Nashville, Tennessee. During the concert, Maren Morris was booed by concertgoers after Aldean mentioned her name.
“I thought, man, who can I call?” Aldean said, according to Billboard. “I got a friend in town. You can call Luke Bryan. I could call you Kane Brown. See if Kenny Chesney is here and not on the beach.
When Aldean mentioned Morris’ name, he looked at the audience and shrugged, causing the audience to boo in response. Morgen Warren is a country her artist known for saying the N word.
Morris previously pointed out that Aldean’s wife Brittany Aldean made transphobic comments on Instagram. Since then, Jason Aldean and Brittany Aldean have doubled down on their opinions.
At the October 14, 2022 concert, Aldean brought Lambert on stage to perform “Drowns the Whiskey”.
Some country music fans called out Miranda Lambert
After Lambert was photographed at the concert, some country music fans expressed disappointment that Lambert was associated with Aldean following his wife’s transphobic comments and his feud with Morris.
“Miranda has been consistently let down for years, so I’m not surprised at all. Being a country music fan is the most exhausting thing,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Another fan wrote on Reddit: I just wish her queer brother wasn’t hurt by this. Because I think that would be the case if a family claiming to be supportive was on stage with bigots booing their allies. ”
Other fans tried to give Lambert the “profit of the doubt” for appearing at Aldean’s concert.
“Part of me isn’t even willing to give Miranda the benefit of the doubt… she hasn’t shared anything about it on social media and about endorsing his views on transgender children/Mallen himself.” I haven’t even shared anything…but I’m still disappointed as a fan…someone who really loves her music,” one Reddit user wrote.
