Dionne Warwick said more than just a prayer for Snoop Dogg, Suge Knight and other rappers on Death Row Records in the ’90s.
In a new clip from her upcoming CNN documentary, Dionne Warwick: Don’t Make Me Over The “Walk On By” singer once invited the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper and his label mates to his home at exactly 7 a.m. Revealed that they single-handedly hosted an intervention about the term… their chart-topping song.
“They all showed up and it certainly worked,” recalls Warwick. “What do you think they needed to hear me say?”

She continued, “I told them, I said, ‘You will all grow up. You will have families. You will have children. You’re going to have a girl, and one day that little girl will look at you and say, “Daddy, did you really say that? I think it was conveyed to
Snoop, who said he was waiting in Warwick’s driveway at 6:52 a.m., recalled being nervous about the meeting. But she will forever have power: 30 years in the game, in a big house with big money and success.”
After welcoming them in, the Grammy-winning vocalist (and social media superstar) reportedly asked Snoop and his contemporaries to call her a bitch.
“She was checking on me when I thought we couldn’t check,” Snoop explained. And I think we got out of Gangster that day.”
And to Warwick’s credit, it’s did work. With lyrical intervention, Snoop changed his upcoming song. “I decided to put out a record of joy. I cheer everyone up, no one dies, no one lives.” “Dionne, when I was the little dirty rock in your house I wish I could be the jewel you’ve seen.I hope I can make you proud.”
