Mugler returned to the runway for the first time in three years during Paris Couture Week on Thursday. It may have been Couture Week, but the brand unveiled his Fall 2022 ready-to-wear collection.
Among the looks that went down the runway, featuring details from leather to architectural shapes, one of the most standout looks was that of Shalom Harlow. The model walked the runway in a perfectly sheer corset top with black bodysuit-style bottoms and a deconstructed voluminous skirt.
Harlow showed off glossy red lips and bangs.
Not only is this the brand’s first runway show in three years, it’s also the first since the eponymous founder, Thierry Mugler, passed away last year. Last fall, the Brooklyn Museum presented the late designer with an exhibition titled Thierry Mugler: Couturissim, highlighting his work over the decades.
Mugler is led by Creative Director Casey Cadwallader, who has held the position since 2017.
The runway show featured an all-star cast of models, from Irina Shayk to Ziwe, a late-night talk show host known to be a regular on the fashion party circuit. The TV personality walked the runway in a black lace corset outfit and knee-high boots.
The runway show also debuted the Spiral Curve 01, the first handbag designed by Cadwallader for the Maison. The handbag is a distorted cylindrical asymmetric shoulder bag available in three sizes.
Paris Couture Week started on Monday and ended on Thursday.
