‘Sesame Street’ co-creator Lloyd Morrisette has died at the age of 93.
The experimental psychologist who co-created a children’s TV show with Joan Ganz Cooney died Monday (23.01.23), news came out from the non-profit organization he founded, Sesame Workshop.
“Sesame Workshop mourns the passing of its esteemed and beloved co-founder, Dr. Lloyd N. Morissette, who passed away at the age of 93.
“As a lifetime trustee, Lloyd has left a tremendous and lasting legacy among generations of children around the world. only the most visible tribute to the influence of
“A wise, thoughtful and most of all kind workshop leader, Lloyd was fascinated by the power of technology and constantly thinking of new ways it could be used in education.”
Morrisett co-founder Joan also gave a rousing compliment.
The 93-year-old TV writer said in a statement: numbers.
“He has been a reliable partner and loyal friend to me for over 50 years. I will miss him.”
Morissette, whose cause of death has not been disclosed, trained to be a teacher at a young age with a background in psychology.
Morissette became an experimental educator, focused on helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
He met Joanne while working for the Carnegie Corporation, an education-focused foundation that eventually created Children’s Television Workshop, which produces educational content for children.
“Sesame Street,” which premiered in 1969, was their first show and has since become a huge success, becoming one of the longest-running TV shows in the world.
