I’m sorry, troll.
But you’re not going to beat Selena Gomez.
The Only Murders in the Building actress sadly got a lot of body-shaming comments on social media after she walked the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
She then appeared on Instagram Love alongside her sister, Gracie Elliot Teefey, to address her recent apparent weight gain.

As seen in a video re-shared on TikTok, she said, “I had fun during the holidays, so I’m a little bit bigger now,” before asking her brother, “Are you sure?”
After Gracie simply replied, “Yeah,” Serena started laughing.
As you can see above, Gomez made headlines at the aforementioned event by rocking a Valentino design featuring a velvet column gown with a high slit and statement puff sleeves with a long train.
I think she looked gorgeous in the ensemble.

To her eternal credit, Gomez has long emphasized the importance of body positivity.
Last month, she responded candidly to criticism of her body centered around her breakup with Justin Bieber a few years ago.
In an Apple TV+ documentary released last year, the singer/actress delved even deeper into the history of her struggles with mental health.
We have always admired her honesty in this area.

Meanwhile, in April 2022, Gomez opened up about being judged for his looks.
“So I’m trying to stay lean, so I went to Jack in the Box and got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich.
“But to be honest, I don’t care about my weight because people complain, ‘You’re too small’ anyway.” “You’re too big.” “It doesn’t fit.”
To her critics, she said at the time:
“Bitch, I’m perfect just the way I am. Moral of the story? Goodbye.”

Yes Serena.
You definitely are.
Related to that, the star has been candid about her tumultuous relationship with social media over the years … in 2019 she pulled the app from her phone because the negative comments were “depressing” her mood. It has been deleted.
But she’s been re-downloading the app, as evidenced by her recent high activity on Instagram and TikTok.
“Hold on, can you tell me I’m back on Instagram?” Gomez captioned a recent post.
