Sadie Sink explored the dark side of her character in “The Whale.”
The 20-year-old actress who played Ellie in Darren Aronofsky’s Oscar-winning film decides whether her alter ego is good or bad as she forges a relationship with her estranged father, Charlie (Brendan Fraser). say you couldn’t.
When asked about her character’s intentions, Sadie told The Hollywood Reporter: she. ‘I know there is, but I think it just developed over time from this great pain she’s been through.
“And I don’t think she knows who she is. I think she’s very insecure.”
Sadie discusses the complicated relationship between Ellie and Charlie, and believes her character in the film is playing “games” with her obese father.
The ‘Stranger Things’ star said, ‘It’s this game that she got better at and it’s kind of a challenge for Charlie, but when it comes to him, he can see everything in the past, so I’m I don’t want to. I think it’s good for her that he sees a part of herself clearly and does what I think is good.”
Sadie’s performance in the film, on the other hand, impressed co-star Brendan and kept her lines forgotten.
The 54-year-old actor said, “The fluidity that Sadie plays, this beautifully controlled anger, was breathtaking to me.
“I was always up on my line, not only because I had cobwebs upstairs and wore a lot of gear, but also because I just had a loose chin. No kidding.
“When you look at her work, every day we worked, she won a game ball.”
