I laughed out loud several times during “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds” — it wasn’t the intended humor, but how much the viewer could have been without any prior knowledge of light novels, manga, or anime TV. It’s about being completely lost. series (or in my case, no teenage daughter to guide me). The manga, is a gentle description of how a newbie might feel after watching this shape-shifting sword and sorcery Japanese animated film. The title character who is sometimes a blue glob.
The bare minimum you should know before experiencing “slime” is: The backstory, not explained in the film, is that a middle-aged worker in modern-day Japan is murdered and wakes up in a world of dragons, ogres, orcs and magic. but:
He is now a “slime” and is considered a lowly presence in Japanese role-playing games, where the show borrows its world-building architecture. He has abilities (mainly the power to absorb others and imitate their shapes and abilities), which ultimately makes him a benevolent ruler of an entire country.He is called “Rimuru” here. and the series is not interested in Rimuru’s killing of earthlings. No effort to resolve it. None of the characters from the series appear in the first part of the movie, and the movie revolves around a new character (“It’s a real shame, because Rimuru is such a nice person,” says her daughter). Did you take it?
Scarlet Bonds begins with an ogre warrior cut down in a forest battle against a horde of bad guys. He is saved by Towa, the queen of a nearby kingdom who can restore life force to herself at great sacrifices via a cursed tiara. Found his town destroyed and somehow guess an orc did this (here, the big boar man) (not the bad guy in the woods) (I don’t know, dear reader, I ‘ is just telling what happened). He finds his one of the responsible orcs: Rimuru’s sidekick. He also finds demon survivors living in Rimuru’s kingdom. Features described by the aforementioned teenage daughter as “fan service” and “jiggle physics.”
Anyway, once all is forgiven and Hiiro brokers an alliance between Rimuru and Towa, the real plot begins. is one of the better anime action series out there. Given the title and Rimuru’s origins, one might expect some modern sleazy humor, but the progression is serious and even like a Thorpe opera. Many threads are hanging. Who has what powers and what abilities can defeat others is a mystery until they are gone. I assure you that fans of the show will not want to miss it.
The rest of us are immersed in warm turmoil as what we don’t understand is unleashed before us.
