The Pittsburgh Opera will host its fashion show “Laced / Unlaced” on February 13, 2023.
Held at the Bits Opera Factory on the Strip, the company’s resident artists perform and walk the runway. They wear opera costumes from the company’s vault, selected based on the theme.
There is a cocktail hour from 6:30-7:30 PM and a showcase at 7:30 PM.
The company presented its first fashion show in 2017 and has continued the tradition every year since (except 2021).
“The impetus for the fashion show was to unite the overlapping worlds of opera and fashion. Opera fans know that fashion and costume design are key elements of opera. “We wanted fashionistas to know that opera speaks their language.” , said before the first fashion show that “good fashion goes beyond mere ‘costumes’ and enters the realm of theater and opera.”
The event is held in partnership with Skye Douglass, House of Couture Designs, and Pulchra Intimates. It is co-chaired by Michele Fabrizi and Melanie Crockard and sponsored by the Melanie Crockard Foundation.
The remainder of the Pittsburgh Opera’s 2022-23 season will feature performances of “Ariodante,” “Il Trovatore,” “Dennis and Katya,” and “We Shall Not Be Moved.”
