The Mint Museum has a major program planned for 2023.
Charlotte’s Cultural Fixtures unveiled major exhibitions including Picasso Landscapes: Bounds, Bearden/Picasso: Rhythm and Reverberation, Fashion Reimagined, Community-Based Featured Activities, Mint Leaders Set New Attendance Record Set.

Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds runs from February 11th to May 21st. The exhibition is part of ‘The Picasso Celebration 1973-2023’, which includes around 50 exhibitions and events at cultural institutions in Europe and North America. It is the 50th anniversary of the artist’s death.
The Mint, the only East Coast museum to host an exhibition, will be the only one in the United States on April 8, the date of Picasso’s death.
Organized by the American Federation of Arts with the support of the National Picasso Museum in Paris and curated by Lawrence Madeline, Chief Curator of French National Heritage, the exhibition comprises 40 paintings spanning Picasso’s career. increase.
This exhibition opens a window into Picasso’s creative process, from his early days in art school (when he was 15 in 1896) to the months before his death in 1973.
Tickets are $10 plus museum admission. Admission is free for K-12 students and art teachers.

Bearden and Picasso Retrospective
In addition to the stand-alone Picasso exhibit, ‘Bearden/Picasso: Rhythm and Reverberation’ will run concurrently at the Mint Museum Uptown. The work of Charlotte-born Romare Bearden is on display alongside him as one of his most important sources of inspiration.
Curated by Jonathan Stahlman, Senior Curator of American Art at the Mint, the exhibition examines Picasso’s influence and his artistic influence on Bearden’s work. Works are drawn primarily from the Mint’s collection of Bearden’s work, as well as from private and other museum collections.
Bearden’s late collages and prints make up the bulk of the exhibit, and nearly half of them are rare paintings from the 1940s when he was on the New York art scene while Picasso was a frequent exhibitor on the New York art scene. Includes unseen early paintings.

Rethinking Fashion: Themes and Variations 1760-NOW, curated by Annie Carlano, Senior Curator of Craft, Design and Fashion at the Mint Museum, runs through July 2nd. design.
The ensemble spans four centuries and is drawn from the Mint’s historical and contemporary fashion collections. The 50 ensembles include vibrant dresses and historic menswear, contemporary fashion and haute couture, with bodies reimagined through the lens of his three distinct themes: minimalism, pattern and embellishment.
The Mint Exhibition is free for members and children 4 and under. $15 for adults. Seniors 65 and over he $10. $10 for college students with ID. $6 for youth ages 5-17.
