Inspired by the success of South Indian film Pushpa in Russia, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is urging Russians to see the much-hyped ‘Pattern’ in theaters.
Taking a cue from the success of South Indian movie Pushpa in Russia, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is urging Russians to see the much-hyped “Pattern” in theaters.
In a recently released video with Russian subtitles, Khan is seen telling Russians he loves them while making a strong pitch due to the pattern being filmed partially in Russia.
Pathaan opens in Russia on January 25, along with other countries of the former Soviet Union (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Azerbaijan).
“Pathaan” faces the wrath of the Hindu right in India, but the film is aiming for an ambitious worldwide release.
With the Ukrainian War and subsequent US sanctions leaving the usual Hollywood entertainment in a vacuum, it wants to capture the lucrative and untapped market in Russia and the surrounding region.
Pattern is also the first Indian film to be shot on Lake Baikal in Siberia.
Shah Rukh Khan’s video message to Russian cinema fans was accompanied by huge posters in Russian and film vaults set up at major landmarks in Moscow.
