Festival founder Nick Novotny said the idea of 30 bands spending the day at six downtown venues came together with the Mid West Music Fest in Winona, Minnesota and La Crosse, Wisconsin. He said he was inspired by the Big Turn music festival in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Over the two days of February 17-18, Big Turn announced a line-up of over 200 bands at nearly 20 venues.
The Mid West Music Fest has rescheduled its 2023 dates to May 12-13 in Winona and November 3-4 in La Crosse. All lacrosse shows are indoor venues. Lacrosse leg last September.
The long-running Winona Music Festival Boat and Bluegrass is the third weekend of September 21-24. The line-up will be announced in late 2023.
