Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre review: Guy Ritchie’s movie is hectic and fun from start to finish

Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham’s fifth collaboration has been a blast from start to finish. Entertainment is guaranteed with a super turn at Aubrey Plaza and Hugh Grant. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre A man named Nathan (Carrie Elwes), presumably a civil servant, walks down a sunlit hallway and starts running in the dizzying opening sequence of his shoes hitting the floor, punctuated to the occurrence of a robbery.

It soon becomes apparent that something important has been stolen and that shady arms dealer Greg Simmons (Hugh Grant) is trying to sell it to mean people. A defense contractor, Nathan is tasked with recovering stolen items. He contacts and works with super spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham). Top operative Sarah (Aubrey Plaza) and her JJ (Bugsy Malone) are various Fortune infantry, tech and vehicle support, honey his traps, and muscle.

Also, rival contractors, Simmons’ terrifying staff and general bad guys, and wealthy philanthropists (not mutually exclusive) share one of the stolen weapon techs that could change modern warfare forever. I am trying my best to get one.

Nathan needs a private jet because of his claustrophobia, needs expensive wine to ease his fear of flying, and needs a luxury vacation to rehabilitate from a strenuous mission. Despite his hobbies, he hires Fortune in his unorthodox ways (he’s clearly a bike courier, not a tank). Fortune’s lure to Simmons is Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett), Simmons’ favorite movie star.

From Cannes to Turkey to Qatar, Fortune and his hilarious friends must keep Danny’s cover from blowing off while tracking down deadly weapons. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre I enjoy the irreverence you’d expect from a Guy Ritchie movie.

Like the one-liners, the action is sizzling. Grant has a lot of fun playing the millionaire bad boy with his twinkle eyes and naughty accent. The guy-to-boy crush he and Hartnett has is pretty cool, as are all the acting jokes. Plaza in her lovely red dress (and other glamorous outfits) is just as charming as the snarky comments that spill from her Carmine lips.

All the joy that emanates from James Bond seems to permeate Richie’s spycraft endeavors. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre With its tangy wit and searing action, it’s sure to guarantee a glorious time on film.
