The Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards red carpet takes place on Sunday at the Hof Family Arts & Culture Center in Council Bluffs.
The ceremony will return to an in-person event this year for the first time since 2020. Awards are given to local visual artists, musicians and performers in many categories.
Lifetime Achievement Awards go to painter, paper and installation artist Susan Knight, R&B drummer and musician Carly Martin, and actor Coke Reimer. BFF (Benson First Friday) Omaha and its founder Alex Jochim receive the Cultural Stewardship Award.
It will be hosted by poet and performer Zedekha Poindexter and actor and producer Keron Stark.
McCormick’s 1894 Bar opens at 5pm for pre-ceremonial drinks and Chef Around the Block cuisine to kick off the evening. Guests can also browse the Anne & John P. Nelson Galleries at that time.

The ceremony will begin at 6:30 with several live performances.

Lunar New Year Gala
Traditional Chinese instrumentalists and performers from Los Angeles’ Yue Opera perform for the Lunar New Year celebration Saturday night at the Orpheum Theater at 409 S. 16th St.
The Nebraska Chinese Association sponsors events to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. We promise a wonderful program that introduces the culture and history of Asia through flamboyant costumes, exciting dances and beautiful music.

Music by John Williams
Composer John Williams was nominated for an Academy Award this week for his score for Steven Spielberg’s autobiographical film The Fabermans.
You can hear selections from his other film scores this weekend at the Omaha Symphony Movie Series concert “The Music of Maestro and John Williams.”
Conducted by Music Director Ankush Kumar Baal, the program includes overtures from “Cowboys” and “Star Wars,” “ET,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and “Jurassic Park.” , etc.
The concert premieres at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night and repeats at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Both will take place at the Holland Center at 1200 Douglas Street.
Tickets range from $20 to $99 and are available at omahasymphony.org.
Wynton Marsalis and Friends
Tickets are still available for Wednesday night’s concert featuring Wynton Marsalis’ Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
This program will feature ‘Middle East Meditation with Nasser Shama’ in collaboration with Abu Dubai Festival.
The orchestra includes 15 of the top jazz soloists and ensemble players currently performing. The group is led by trumpet virtuoso Marsalis, who is its Managing and Artistic Director. The repertoire ranges from historical works to commissioned works and classical works by artists such as Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman.
The 7:30 PM concert will take place at the Holland Center at 1200 Douglas Street.
