Like it, OMG!: Decades-old bands shut up To celebrate the release of the latest album Shut up is a girl who sings songs, hilariously, albeit a bit reductively, skewers online tropes, slang, casual conversation, and all the quick feats of internet/influencer culture. In another lifetime, these guys would all be sing-and-dance guys, but in 2023, they’re still one of the most reliable pop artists we know. It continues to exist. wood shedding: Rob Smith I just released my debut solo album under the name (Wieuca, Jack’s Johnson). RV SmithThe title of the 9-song album is melt water pulse, and Smith recorded it in Atlanta and New York. The record is full of synth swells, razor-thin electronic beats (very similar to those used by the likes of Salem) and an overall indie-his electronic vibe. In particular, I dug the tracks “Freedom Fuel,” “Skullcandy,” and “Thusly.”The album concludes with the actual original take Simon & Garfunkel‘s “I Am A Rock”, but here it is simply cataloged as “I Am Rock”. I think there’s some trap-rap influence here, but very little. This was all recorded and performed by Smith, but mastering was done by Mark Daddy Flex (aka Terrence Chiesan). OHMU LIVE AT POMPEI: Experimental Improviser, Electronic Composer winston parker Released a live video shot over two days at Cine under him Ohm Nickname. He reports that this was filmed with a friend of his who was visiting from Texas. The performance spanned three of his works, whose seeds were “…planted by a constant pull to improvisation, to a potentially transcendental state of expression,” says Parker. The music was originally inspired by the cacophony of airplane engines echoing through the air. ’ Casting to the big screen and turning off all other distractions makes this difficult.
