When I first met Nick Viall, he was chasing Andy Dorfman. bachelorette.
The next time we looked up the Wisconsin native, he was looking for the perfect spouse Bachelor’s degree Season 21.
His road to the altar may have been longer and winding than expected, but the road to true love was anything but smooth!
Nick announced Thursday that he’s engaged to longtime girlfriend Natalie Joy.
The couple shared the news on a carousel of irreverent engagement photos.
Viall first revealed he and Joy were dating on his 2021 episode vial file podcast.
“It’s fun. It’s great. I’m so happy,” he said at the time.
Nick revealed that he met his future fiancée online.
“She slipped into my DM. It was so romantic.”
The pair eventually met in person and hit it off as friends, but interestingly, Nick was initially reluctant to take the leap and enter a relationship with Natalie.
“We kept hanging out, but she finally got to saying, ‘I want to date you,’ and I said, ‘I don’t know,'” he said on a later episode of The Pod.
“She just said, ‘OK, this is what I want. showed it to me.”
Throughout their relationship, Nick and Natalie both spoke candidly about the importance of not being concerned with society’s expectations about the appropriate speed at which a relationship should progress.
“I think timelines can be a little bit dangerous at times. You set false expectations and when you hit a certain timeline suddenly… [you] We have other priorities,” Viall explained at one point.
“I tell people to be careful setting timelines. If they want to set a time, that’s great. Make sure it’s mutual.”
Yes, Nick is no newcomer when it comes to relationships.
In addition to all the dates he’s had in front of the ABC cameras, he’s also embarked on quite a few high-profile romances since his career as a reality star ended.
Viall has dated January Jones and Corinne Olympios, but those love affairs never approached the seriousness of her relationship with Natalie.
