Chelsea could use Romelu Lukaku in a partial exchange to sign Europe’s top striker, while West Ham and Aston Villa are set to battle for the former Arsenal midfielder.
Lukaku’s future in the air
Romelu Lukaku is back on loan at Inter Milan this season after a tumultuous 2021/22 season at Chelsea. He was supposed to be a comeback within a comeback, but the Belgian striker struggled and let his complaints out after returning to Stamford Bridge.
And now his future is very doubtful. Italy’s Calciomercato reports say he could move to Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Newcastle United or Tottenham.
A move to Spurs depends on Antonio Conte staying at the club, whose contract expires at the end of the season. The Italian managed Lukaku in his 20-21 season at Inter in what turned out to be the best individual season of his career as the Nerazzurri won his first Serie A title in ten years.
Bayern Munich are looking for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. I don’t think anyone thinks Eddie Howe actually wants him.
Juventus transfer is quite interesting. After receiving a 15-point deduction, the old lady is in disarray and some players may demand she leave at the end of the season when a Champions League qualification is unlikely. One of the players who is doing so is Dusan Blachovic, and Chelsea will obviously bid by offering Lukaku to the Italian giants. interesting…
Marseille Maverick back at Prem?
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, West Ham have joined the race for Aston Villa target Matteo Guendouzi.
Everyone remembers Guendouzi at Arsenal, especially how his stint in North London ended. His final act as Gunner was to grab then-Brighton striker Neil Maupay by the neck. How funny.
He is rumored to be back in the Premier League this month, with Villa making him one of their top transfer destinations. However, the Hammers decided they wanted Marseille Maverick.
Journalist Mathieu Grégoire told L’Equipe:
Guendouzi doesn’t seem too keen on a move to the Premier League mid-table and you can’t blame him. Will his team take a chance on the former Arsenal midfielder?
go to polo
Tottenham are set to sign Spanish right-back Pedro Polo from Sporting, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
This is not really gossip at this stage as Romano says three sexy words. An Italian journalist wrote on Twitter: “Tottenham have reached full verbal agreement with Sporting to sign Pedro Pollo.” If all goes according to plan, it will be sealed within the next 24 hours.
“Pedro Polo bids farewell tonight and signs with Spurs until 2028. Boarding complete – London.”
What does this mean for Conte’s current crop of right-backs? Emerson Royale and Matt Doherty will likely stay at the club, but Jed Spence’s future is up in the air. Conte is clearly not a fan of Spence.
PA News Agency expects Spence to depart on loan before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. But with Marogusto not joining Chelsea until the summer, the French club probably won’t make a move.
