At a recent ceremony, Rajamouli was awarded Best Director by the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) for directing the blockbuster ‘RRR’. Shekhar Kapur took to his Twitter to congratulate SS Rajamouli and his RRR his team on winning such a prestigious award.

Shekhar Kapur is known for films such as What’s Love Got to Do with It?, Venice 70: Future Reloaded, Passage, New York, I Love You and The Guru.
After two Golden Globe nominations, an Oscar long-list, and several early award-season trophies, ‘RRR’ is now in the prestigious BAFTA Awards’ Films Not in the English category. And Indians aren’t the only ones on the long list released by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) on Friday night.

Recently awarded the ‘Best Director’ award by the New York Film Critics Circle starring Ram Charan, Rajamouli took the stage to give a heartfelt acceptance speech.
“I don’t know if you know how we watched the movie on the first day back in India. We can’t see the visuals, we can’t hear the dialogue. It’s an incredible celebration. I I saw the same kind of movies.Whether it was in LA or New York or Chicago, the West embraced RRR.
Rajamouli also said that one of ‘RRR’s ‘biggest achievements’ was that it ‘restored the joy of watching movies in theaters’.
“I still get that same excitement as a kid when I watch a movie in the hall and the lights in the auditorium are turned off. I imagine myself making,” he said.
“RRR” is a fictional story based on the life of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Ram Charan and Jr NTR each played a lead role. The film has collected over 1.2 billion INR worldwide.
