Midtown, Manhattan (PIX11) — New York’s version of the Academy Awards, but unlike other film awards galas, there were no nominees, only winners from each National Board of Review category.
Colin Farrell won Best Actor for “Banshees of Inisherin”.
“Loneliness, community, the need for solitude, the need to be part of friendship,” Farrell said when describing the film’s themes.
Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress for “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.
“I think this is a watershed moment,” Yeoh told PIX11 News. “Let’s break that damned glass and shatter it.”

The creative team of Top Gun: Maverick was also honored to bring people back to cinemas for the blockbuster movie.
“There’s nothing better than having someone say they’ve seen it five times,” said Joe Kosinsk, director of Top Gun: Maverick. am.”
Janelle Monae won Best Supporting Actress for Glass Onion: Knife Out Mystery.
“There are so many great performances this season. It’s no small thing for the National Jury to have me here,” Monáe said.
Daniel Deadweiler scored a breakthrough performance in “Till;” Deadweiler played Emmett Till’s mother and exposed the racism behind her son’s murder.
Deadweiler said, “It’s a joy to see this finally come to life, and to come to life as beautifully as it is now.”
Yeoh’s win was the biggest moment of the night for many.
Yeo told PIX11 News, “I’m the first Asian actress in 45 years to win this award from the National Board of Review.” means that.”
