WKIO 107.9-FM will sound fresh in no time.
Hosted by Ashley Page and Brad Abrel, The Ashley & Brad Show will join the station’s on-air line-up Tuesday through weekdays from 5am to 9am.
The move is in line with research that suggests listeners wanted a more music-oriented show than the station’s previous morning show, The Bob and Tom Show.
“We always strive to meet our listeners’ expectations,” said WKIO General Manager Grant Thompson. “So, later this year, we conducted a listener perception survey asking what he liked and disliked about 107.9 WKIO.
“Our research shows that listeners are very passionate about WKIO and love its music, features and on-air talent, but they were missing their first asset in the morning: the music.”
Both Paige and Abrel have voice acting backgrounds, with Abrel earning credits in shows and commercials such as “SpongeBob Squarepants,” “Gravity Falls,” and “Doc Max Taffins.”
They have been hosting shows together since 2015 and feature local personalities Dave Heckman (9am-2pm), Mike Haile (2pm-6pm) and Dave Leake (6pm-6pm). (until midnight) joins the line-up featuring daily presence.
“We are thrilled to live up to the expectations of our listeners and welcome Ashley and Brad and Music in the Morning to WKIO,” Thompson said.
