    The three-hour Miss Universe contest was broadcast live from the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans on Saturday, January 14th.     The Miss Universe winner was 28-year-old Miss USA R’bonney Gabriel, a fashion designer from Houston, Texas, who drove four hours from her home to compete.

    The first Filipino-American to win the title of Miss USA, Gabrielle is a fashion designer, model, and sewing instructor. I am the CEO of my own sustainable clothing line. Her platform is for “women and young girls to see themselves in her and feel inspired to achieve their goals by owning themselves.”
