Louise Trotter, who joined Lacoste as the brand’s creative director in 2018, has parted ways with the French fashion label.
Trotter, who made her debut at Lacoste during Paris Fashion Week in February 2019, became the first woman to lead the brand at the age of 85, succeeding Felipe Oliviera Baptista. During her tenure, the creative has unveiled everything from minimalist clothing to René Lacoste-inspired collections that celebrate the company’s heritage and her tennis-focused DNA.
“I am very honored to have contributed to the legacy of Rene Lacoste. René Lacoste’s sporting values are with me. To be part of this unique brand that perfectly blends tradition and avant-garde. I am very pleased,” Trotter said in a statement. As reported by WWDLacoste president Thierry Guibert further thanked the designers for their “creativity, dedication and contribution to the brand’s heritage.”
Trotter’s final runway show returned for the Spring/Summer 2022 season in September 2021, but Lacoste hasn’t done a runway presentation since. The former creative director then introduced the collection through an intimate presentation at Paris Fashion Week.
It’s currently unknown where Trotter is headed after his time at Lacoste.
