Lizzo shares her thoughts on “cancellation culture.”
In a tweet shared on Sunday, the “About Dumb Time” singer-songwriter spoke about the widely used term and how it has evolved in the public consciousness since its origins.
“It may be a random time to say this, but it’s on my mind.. Cancel culture is misappropriated‘ writes 34-year-old Lizzo.
“There’s a lot of outrage from people who are truly marginalized, and now it’s trendy, misused, and misdirected,” the Grammy-winner’s post continued. I hope you can phase it out and focus your anger on the real issue.”

Lizzo isn’t the only celebrity to speak publicly about “cancellation culture” these days. I explained that it doesn’t always have the impact on careers that some people might expect.
