Remember when Kim Kardashian wore a Marilyn Monroe dress to the Met Gala and everyone went crazy?
Well, get ready for another controversy involving Kim and the iconic blonde Elton John compared to a candle in the wind!
Yes, Kim is once again following in the fashion footsteps of a deceased icon, and people are losing their minds again as a result.
This time, Kim imitates Princess Diana.

Based on the reaction on Twitter, you would think that it was Kim, not Prince Charles or the British tabloids, who made Princess Diana’s life miserable!
Sotheby’s recently auctioned the famous amethyst cross necklace that once belonged to Princess Di.
The seller described it as an “iconic” piece “worn only by the princess and after her death… never seen in public until now.”

Kim won the item for $197,453. This is what Sotheby’s described as “twice his pre-auction estimate.”
It’s evident from the amount of money she’s spent that Kim is a huge fan of Princess Di.
However, on Twitter and elsewhere, there are haters who see her buying Diana’s jewelry as a sign of disdain.

“She’s really trying to hurt the ghost of an iconic woman,” one person tweeted, according to Page Six.
“Think about Kim Kay’s dedication to clinging to the fashion legacy of dead people that already exists,” added another.
“Diana has been exploited enough that Kimberly going out of her way to buy something that should be in a museum is very disgusting and not in a good way.”

“I should have given this necklace to one of Diana’s granddaughters,” suggested another user.
It’s not such a bad idea, but Kim is only about an hour away from Harry and Meghan!
I might bring it to Lilibet’s next birthday!

“She’ll somehow damage it, like she damaged Marilyn’s dress,” wrote yet another critic.
Yes, there were rumors that Marilyn’s dress suffered minor damage the night of the Met Gala – and frankly, it’s a 60-year-old fabric that has lived most of its life behind glass in Orlando Ripley’s museum. So it’s totally possible.
But if so, it’s probably not Kim’s fault, but the people who lent it to her.

As for Diana’s necklace, it’s probably a little more sturdy than the dress, and I’m sure Kim will handle it with care.
However, if something does happen, it belongs to Kim now, and as it turns out, it’s just a necklace, not a Horcrux containing a piece of Diana’s soul.
Perhaps haters can take solace in the fact that if Kim hadn’t bought it, some other rich fashion-obsessed weirdo would have.
