This week, Todd Chrisley began serving his prison sentence.
He and wife Julie Chrisley were convicted of multiple charges of various types of financial fraud.
chrisley knows best Viewers are clearly curious about what their lives are like now and what they will look like in the years to come.
Reality cameras no longer track the pair. But we can paint a pretty clear picture of Todd and Julie’s new life.
As previously reported, Todd and Julie Chrisley formally reported themselves to their respective prisons on January 17th.
Todd Chrisley will serve time at FPC Pensacola, Florida’s minimum security prison.
He will serve 12 years in prison. It is a difficult and dire prospect.
Todd does prison work in the morning and afternoon. Federal law requires most prisoners to work, which of course contributes to America’s mass internment nightmare.
His wake-up call is 4:45 am. Todd has to make his own bed and make sure his cell is tidy.
From 5am to 6am he eats breakfast with the other inmates.
It remains to be seen what will happen to Todd’s prison job. This was early in his incarceration, and it’s possible neither is Todd.
It can be anything from landscaping to housework to laundry to library work.
The use of involuntary workers who cannot quit or ask for better wages or hours is part of what allows the prison system to sustain itself.
At eleven o’clock in the morning, Todd eats lunch. Dinner time begins at 4:30 PM. About 12 hours after waking up.
In the evenings, Todd has time to read, watch TV, and play games.
We have a movie night. Lights out at 10pm.
Todd has the option of participating in outdoor team sports such as softball, soccer and basketball.
FPC Pensacola also has its own gym, track and racquetball courts for inmates to use.
There are work programs such as woodworking and other trade skills. There are also academic opportunities.
Todd has had complicated relationships with various children over the years. But if you want to visit, she can.
On Friday nights and during the day on weekends, it can host as many as five visitors at a time.
These are very limited times, but they can get pretty bad.
Meanwhile, Julie Chrisley began serving her own seven-year sentence on the same day.
Julie reported to Federal Medical Center (FMC) Lexington in Lexington, Kentucky. Yes, she should have originally served time in the FCI Marianna SCP. Then plans changed.
FMC Lexington is a public safety medical center that houses 1,286 prisoners.
The facility’s residential units have basic sanitary and shower facilities, plus a TV area and a function room.
Like her husband, Julie will have multiple vocational and educational training opportunities.
There are also arts and crafts options and exercise programs for inmates.
Federal Prison Industires’ UNICOR program “provides inmates the opportunity to work in customer service centers and electronics factories.”
Clearly, the phrasing is downright ominous. Unsurprisingly, corporal labor is difficult to interpret in a positive light.
Julie’s visiting hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from 2:25 PM to 8:30 PM and during weekend hours. Or, if she ends up going to a nearby prison camp, her working hours will be the same as her working hours for Todd.
