James Gunn has dismissed speculation that Jacob Elody is the new Superman.
The 56-year-old filmmaker, who joined Peter Safran as co-CEO of DC Studios in October, responded to reports online that the “Euphoria” star was set to play the Man of Steel on the big screen next. The character claims that no one will start casting until the script is finished, and there are no announcements for the foreseeable future.
He tweeted in response to a post that photoshopped Jacob’s face into Superman’s body: “In my opinion, no one has been cast as Superman yet.
“Most of the time, in my case, the casting happens after the script is finished or close to being finished, but that is not the case.
“We’ll be announcing a few things in the coming days, and Superman’s casting won’t be one of them.”

He explained: [and] I’m ready for DC Slate. At the beginning of the new year, we can share some exciting information about our first project.
