James Cromwell A prolific actor who has played many famous roles, including Farmer Hoggett in the beloved 1995 film. babeand was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Now, Cromwell revealed there’s a much deeper meaning behind the iconic scene at the end of the film. babe When he said, “That’s fine, pig. That’s fine.”
In the scene in question, Hogget and Babe the pig enter a shepherding competition. As the crowd sat in complete silence, Babe succeeded in throwing the sheep into the pen and Hoggett closed the gate.
After the crowd cheers, Hogget looks down at Babe next door and delivers a memorable line.

Sit down with Turner Classic Movies Ben Mankiewicz For CBS, Cromwell shared that acting out that scene was an emotional moment for him and that he only had to do one take.
Cromwell recalled the moment he shot the scene, saying, “I opened the gate and the sheep came in and erupted. The difficult shot was over. I lowered the camera and said, ‘Where do you want this to be?’ Told. To? ‘I knew what I wanted to do. ”
In the shot, Cromwell is looking directly into the camera and the audience is looking through Babe’s eyes.
“I looked down and couldn’t see me. I could see my father with some old make-up and sideburns. And I said, ‘That’s fine, Pig. That’s fine.’ I said, ‘That’s fine, Jamie. That’s fine.'”
“I got recognition from my father through my own performance. Finally, I showed that I was finally ready to work. Not panic or anger, but giving. Just be there,” he said. continued.
In an interview, Mankiewicz responded, “It sounds like it was a pretty emotional moment for you.”
Cromwell said, “To hear him recognize me, to be recognized by yourself, by what you do, we call it talent. You did it. Good job.” I did. That’s a good job.
