Grant plays the husband of Daniel Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
As the debate continues over who will take over 007 in the revamped franchise, Hugh Grant seems to have posed the question: Why not feature the first queer James Bond?
‘Love Actually’ alum joked he’s married real Bond in Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion: Knives Out Mystery.” His cameo appearance could open the door to more appearances in the franchise.
“It’s true. I’m married to James Bond,” Grant told Collider of his role in the Netflix movie. I don’t know, but I thought “Knives Out 1” was great anyway. I will show up for a few hours…”
Writer-director Johnson has previously dismissed speculation about a Knives Out prequel film depicting Bran’s origin story, opting instead, like Grant, to give “a tiny glimpse” into Bran’s personal life. Ethan Hawke, Natasha Lyonne, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the late Angela Lansbury and Stephen Sondheim also made cameos in the sequel film.
Johnson recently spoke out about keeping each film “self-contained” within the “Knives Out” cinematic universe (a third installment is already set on Netflix).
“Honestly, I’m upset that the title has ‘A Knives Out Mystery’. See?” Johnson admitted to The Atlantic. “Just call it ‘Glass Onion'” I want everyone who liked the first movie to know that this is the next in the series, but the overall appeal for me It’s about being a new, ready-made novel each time. ”
Johnson is currently collaborating with Lyonne on the Peacock series Poker Face, inspired by Philip Marlowe-like novel Noir Detectives. Produced by Johnson, “Poker Face” follows private investigator Charlie Kale (Lyon) as he travels across America to solve bizarre crimes.
Lyonne directed and executive produced episodes of the series with Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cherry Jones, Tim Meadows, Nick Nolte, Rhea Perlman, Ron Perlman, Jameela Jamil, Judith Wright, Chloe Sevigny, Hong Chau, Lil Ray Howery, Stephanie Hsu, Tim Blake Nelson, Charles Melton, Luis Guzman, Ellen Barkin, Claire Duvall, Benjamin Bratt.
“Poker Face” creator Johnson previously said in a press statement that the series is a “character-driven week-by-week mystery” that is an ode to “the goodness I grew up watching.” It’s my happy place. ”
Lyon said, “What [creator Johnson] What he does is nothing but beautiful, and his work is nothing but the heart. ”
