Oh slime. Strutting, sexy and sometimes a little “fart”. I don’t know how long it took my sons to figure out how to make a slime “fart,” but when I became a mother, I found someone who could make slime with my kids. I’m sure you never imagined you’d be able to see it. “Fart” is the loudest. Sound like something your own kids would enjoy?we have all the details how to make slimeincluding 3 different techniques!

She has a love-hate relationship with slimes. I love playing with it, but at one point the slime got into just about every crevice in my truck and I had to force it off the carpet in most rooms of my house. Seeing the look in my boy’s eyes every time I got a pile of fresh slime was priceless and actually worth the hassle.

My children are now teenagers. I “force” them to help me with this project and they seem pretty excited to make it happen.

It’s been a long time since I heard the magic slime “Toots”. Let’s walk through the steps we created.

Gather some simple ingredients (things most of us have around the house), follow a few simple steps, and you’ll be making your own slime in no time!

    3 ways to make slime

We have compiled a list of materials and equipment for each type of slime that can be made. Check each one first to make sure you have everything before you start.

Pick your slime technique and once you have everything you need, it’s time to get to mixing.

    ooblec slime

    slime material

    Collect these items.

    material:

    • ½ cup water
    • 1 cup cornstarch
    • Food coloring (can be omitted, but really?)

    Device:

    • large microwave safe bowl
    • measuring cup and measuring spoon
    • Spoon (for stirring)
    • Airtight container or plastic storage bag with a tight-fitting lid

    direction:

    how to make slime

When making oobleck, first fill the bowl with water.

    1. Fill a large microwave-safe bowl with 1/2 cup of water.

    how to make slime

Put it in the microwave and heat it.

    2. Put it in the microwave for 45 seconds to 1 minute to heat the water.

The key is not to use hot water as you will be mixing the slime by hand. If it is too hot, you have to wait until it cools down.

    how to make slime

Adding food coloring is said to make Oobleck more “cool.”

    3. If using food coloring, add 3-4 drops until the water is colored. darker Than you want to be a slime.

When you make this slime, the color will be a little lighter.

    how to make slime

    4. Mix the water well with a spoon.

    how to make slime

    5. Measure out 1 cup of cornstarch and slowly add it to the boiling water.

Let the cornstarch slowly come out of the measuring cup or scrape it out with a spoon. If you splatter it all at once, it will have an “explosion” effect, blowing you and the entire kitchen.

    how to make slime

    6. Stir with a spoon until thickened and continue to mix with your fingers.

Blend the mixture thoroughly until it forms a thick paste.

Adjust the slime consistency. Add more cornstarch if the slime is too thin, and warm water if the mixture is too thick.

Getting the right slimy consistency is a matter of personal preference.

    how to make slime

You should be able to easily put your finger in the ooblec and the surface should feel dry.

    how to make slime

My son figured out that when you peck at Oobleck it’s “hard” but when you pull your finger it’s “runny”.

    how to make slime

After playing with Oobleck slime, put it in a storage container for later use.

    how to make slime

Hanging out with glue-free slime, kiwi for hours.

This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled, depending on how many children you are making.

Here’s what I’ve learned about making slime with little kids and making slime with teenagers. Both are fun. Both are a hassle (really) if you allow them to help. Slime still wobbles when squished just right (yes, it’s still fun!) And making slime is a great hands-on way to connect with kids of all ages!
