FAIRFIELD — Dark-hearted and malevolent puppets seem to come to life in the terrifying M3GAN that ushers in the New Year in cinema.
Also at the local theater is a new western with Nicolas Cage, who fights alongside his daughter to fight outlaws.
Nationwide openings are:
“M3GAN” It’s a terrifying movie about a robotics engineer at a toy company who builds lifelike dolls that immediately start behaving like the real thing. The movie is rated PG-13.
“old way” Nicolas Cage stars in his first Western as Colton Briggs, a cold-blooded gunslinger turned fine family man. When outlaws and his gang endanger Colton and his family, Colton is forced to take up arms with his unlikely partner, his 12-year-old daughter (Ryan Kiera Armstrong). This movie is rated R.

“Alcaras” Every summer, the Sole family picks peaches from the orchards of the small Spanish village of Alcalaz. However, this year’s harvest could be their last as they face evictions. This movie is not rated.
“Imani” A mystery about a woman who believes she’s been in a car accident and spends her time recovering from amnesia is that she’s actually a very popular Army Special Operations Lieutenant who has given the broader government a lid-blowing secret. Just knowing you have… a conspiracy. This movie is not rated.
“Last Resort” A former Special Forces soldier whose wife and daughter were taken hostage in a bank robbery becomes a one-man army. As he brutally neutralizes a gang of thieves, millions of lives are on the balance when a highly deadly toxin is stolen from a vault. This movie is rated R.
