The official trailer for Faraz, the latest thriller movie directed by Hansal Mehta, was released on Monday on the T-Series YouTube channel. The over two minute long trailer begins with a glimpse of patrons enjoying a meal at Holly’s Artisan’s cafe in Dhaka, Bangladesh on July 1, 2016. Actor Zahan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor’s son and late Shashi Kapoor’s grandson, also appears in the trailer as one of his customers. Faraaz is his Zahaan debut. At night, when people are quietly enjoying their meal, some terrorists burst in and shoot people at random. Actor Paresh Rawal’s son, Aditya Rawal, appears in the trailer as one of the terrorists. Aditya’s character speaks to Zahan, “Faraz Hussein, Bangladesh ka Shezada (Prince of Bangladesh)?” Faraz, who was 20 years old, was killed in an attack in 2016. He was the grandson of Latifer Rahman.
As the police plan their attack, Zahan is seen saving children and fighting terrorists inside a cafe. He ends by asking if he wants to.
This line became a big hit among fans who praised it in the comments section. Speaking earlier about the storyline, Hansal, as quoted by news agency ANI, said: Through his one event that rocked Dhaka, namely his 2016 Holi his Artisan attack on his cafe, I explored the wider theme of violence and the real reasons that drive young and vulnerable minds toward violence. “Designed as a poignant thriller set in a tense night, working with Faraz also highlights the immense courage and humanity needed to confront violence. Prejudice and what it causes. Because confronting the genocide is the only way to defeat it,” he added.
Faraaz is set to hit theaters nationwide on February 3rd. The film is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar’s Thi series, Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks, Mahana Films-Sahil Saigal Sakshi Bhatt and Mazahir Mandasaurwala. The film had its Grand World Premiere at his BFI London Film Festival in 2022.
