FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) – Marimba and violin duo Vision Duo will perform at the 41st Anniversary of the Fairmont Chamber Music Society (FCMS) in downtown Fairmont. The event will be held at 3:00 pm on January 29 at St. Peter the Fisherman’s Catholic Church, 407 Jackson Street, Fairmont.
Vision Duo is made up of co-founders violinist Ariel Horowitz and percussionist and marimba player Britton-René Collins. According to an FCMS release, they have won the 2020 Concert Artists Guild Competition Ambassador Award, and their music “features violin and marimba compositions and arrangements composed since the 20th century. ” has been described as contemporary classical music.
Mr. Horowitz currently teaches violin and chamber music at Mount Holyoke College and is a driving force behind the Heartbeat Music Project. 12 people live in the Navajo Nation,” the release said.
Britton-René Collins blogs about her experiences as a minority musician, performs as a chamber musician, and is a percussionist in the Excels is Percussion Quartet.
Vision Duo concerts are open to the public, and tickets are available at the door for $10 for adults and $6 for seniors and students. After the concert, a reception will be held in the church hall. Although not required, visitors are encouraged to wear masks.
On January 30th, Vision Duo will host an abbreviated church concert for Fairmont Catholic School students as part of FCMS’ Educational Outreach program.
