The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that former Malawi President Arthur Peter Mutharika is ill.

He said Mutharika is in good shape and is “very healthy” to spend this holiday season with friends and family.
Namaromba, who said he had reported the matter to the police, warned that under Malawian law the allegations are inherently criminal.
He appealed to the public to respect the former president, who is also the leader of the Democratic Party.
In a related development, videos of Mutharika posted on social showed him being closely watched by bodyguards as he walked through his residence in Mangochi.
