I love watching young people decide to study at a historically black college, but it’s even more important when that young person is the child of a famous person. It is hypothesized that they can even avoid college education altogether while benefiting from their parents’ success. Spotlight these schools and help them get admission and fundraising in small but useful ways. Maybe that’s why everyone was so happy to see Donre Whitfield and his wife Sally Richardson Whitfield recently celebrate his daughter Parker’s choice to go to Spellman. not.

Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur, followed his father to Jackson State University, where he became the HBCU’s star quarterback. Like his father, he decided to follow his father back to Colorado and not return to the school’s football program.
