NBC has officially abolished the blacklist.
On Wednesday, the network announced that this James Spader-led drama will end after its upcoming 10th season, which is set to premiere on February 26.
Executive Producer John Isendrath said, “After 10 years, hundreds of Blacklist cases and over 200 episodes in the making, we are honored to come to a conclusion.
“Creating weird, devious, hilarious Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and the FBI Task Force each week is incredibly fun.”
He continued:
“To everyone at NBC and Sony, I want to thank our extraordinary crew who make the impossible possible every day, our endlessly creative writers and producers, and our remarkable cast for bringing these characters to life.
“We would like to thank our dedicated fan base for joining us for this incredible ride and are thrilled to share this final season with them.”
Along with the cancellation message, NBC shared the promo for The Blacklist’s final season. This is his one-time promise of the “last ride” for US Naval Intelligence Officer Reddington (Spider).
“It’s rare that a series resonates so deeply with viewers that it runs for 10 seasons, but ‘The Blacklist’ brings together a highly talented producer, an excellent script, a cast that never fails to It proved to be the perfect combination of the best crew,” said Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, in a statement.
“A huge thank you to our partners at Sony and everyone who has made this show an integral part of NBC’s storied history over the past decade. And of course, James Spader’s performance is nothing short of spectacular.”
The Blacklist premiered in 2013 and follows Spader’s Red, who disappeared from the grid and became one of the FBI’s 10 most wanted criminals at the time.
After surrendering to authorities, he submitted a blacklist of criminals to the FBI.
The final season opens as Red confronts a new threat after avenging the murder of Liz Keane (Megan Boone).
In the season 9 finale, Blacklist No. 84 escapes from prison and tells the other fugitives that Red is an FBI informant, putting him in danger because they seek “fatal revenge.” He said he was.
Jason Croddfelter, co-president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, added on Wednesday:
“Thanks to our incredible partners at NBC for delivering 10 incredible seasons of The Blacklist, the series that introduced the world to Raymond Reddington, brilliantly played by James Spader.
“James leads a multi-talented and diverse cast, featuring legendary guest stars and hundreds of Blacklisters, rooting us all in this anti-hero.
“The Reddington Hat is a tribute to our dedicated production staff, hardworking crew and talented writers.
“The unpredictable twists and turns have created a traditional TV show that entertains audiences around the world. Entering the final season, viewers will have to see how Raymond Reddington takes his final bow.” I can’t wait to see it.”
