To paraphrase AMC’s advertising great Nicole Kidman, which I personally hope, we come to the movies for the magic. We want to hear from people who are very different from us. We want to support them in doing what we couldn’t do. We want to see places we may never be able to visit. No other genre encompasses these three elements as well as the action movie genre. If you go to the movies and see scenes of massive explosions, physics-defying cars, and iconic fight scenes between the coolest people on earth in the coolest places on earth, you’re in luck! A huge number of action movies are released. That’s all there is to chaos at this point.
Nearly every franchise you can think of, and even the ones you forgot, are getting sequels. Mission Impossible movie, new Creed movie, and new transformers movie. There are superheroes, spies, assassins, even more superheroes, Vin Diesel, archeology professors, robots, dinosaurs, and… let’s be honest, a few more superheroes. However It’s important to me that you know that. There is a lot of variety when it comes to action this year.
There are also original action movies based on nothing, and it doesn’t seem like there’s even a two-and-a-half-hour toy commercial out there. If they look good on you, definitely check them out! No offense to my franchise babes, but we need to know that Hollywood is as open to trying new things as we love seeing our favourites.
