Benedict Cumberbatch is said to have spent £8.1million on his Somerset mansion.
Worth an estimated £32.7million, the 46-year-old ‘Sherlock’ actor bought the property in May 2022 with his theater director wife Sophie Hunter, 44, after finding it in 2020. .
According to The Sun, his lot includes a Grade II listed lodge, an organic farm, a cider orchard, a wine cellar and a library.
It is also said to contain Gothic arches and was reportedly built to impress King George III, who was a regular visitor in the late 1700s.
A source told the newspaper on Saturday (14.01.23):
“The house is historic but has all the modifications. Locals in nearby villages know about the purchase.
“Everyone is excited about their new neighbors.”
The property is said to have been handled by Savills real estate agents.
Benedict, who already has a house in London that he shares with Sophie, is headed for another payday from ‘Sherlock’ if he agrees to star in the fifth series of the BBC show.
