The son of the late actor Irrfan, Babil Khan has followed in his father’s footsteps and embarked on a journey in the film industry with his web movie ‘Qala’.
“Bubba’s legacy is about acting, fame, stardom, or, to a lesser degree, about the essence of being human and the depth of our exploration of it. I will not stay,” says Babil.
The 24-year-old continues. Same goal as Bubba. The legacy belongs to all of us. He doesn’t limit it to one person. ”
It is these deep thoughts in conversation that remind me of Irfan. Remember the same smile and strength in your eyes. And while Babil sticks to individuality, he’s willing to accept any comparative notes that come his way.
“I rejoice how fondly he is remembered and that his life is celebrated with love, rather than let my ego burden me with improbable worries. I will never try to be him, I am who I am and it is a waste of my life to try to be someone else.It is important to stay true to yourself in the face of adversity. Your individuality is a gift,” says Babil, who has been acclaimed for his performance as 1930s singer Jagan in the web movie.
About his first project he said: The satisfaction and recognition an artist receives from an audience is an important factor in an artist’s development…so you can imagine how overwhelmed I am with gratitude at absorbing Qala’s response. I can’t let myself get addicted to it.
In fact, even before beginning his acting journey, Babil had his first shot at stardom when he walked in with his father at several public events.
“I remember that Baba was sometimes attacked by mobs and had to be physically pulled away from his side for safety. I just wanted to be there. Fame is a strange experience,” he recalls.
Babil has always referred to his father as his “best friend,” and his social media posts reflect the same, especially after his death in 2020.
“The love we received after Baba’s death was so pure, and I remember a very clear statement made to us by most of the members’.”
“So it became important to give back to his fans when people and his fans personally felt the loss. It was important to me to share, it created a family bond with his fans, it’s like, ‘If he thinks he’s his father, I can think of him as my brother.’ Even after his death, he united us all,” says Babil.
So how does Baba continue to guide your journey as an artist?
