Jermaine Franklin promoter Dmitry Sarita thinks rumored Anthony Joshua and Dillian White rematch is just ‘celebrity boxing’ and ‘big event’ not big fight .
‘AJ’ had a long rivalry with White over a decade after losing to ‘Body Snatcher’ in his third amateur bout.
However, the score was settled in the professional ring as the two-time world champion knocked White out with a fatal uppercut in 2015.
After suffering a losing streak, Joshua is looking to get his career back on track, and Eddie Hearn details plans for a warm-up fight in April before facing White again in the summer.
As for White, the 35-year-old struggled to beat Jermaine Franklin in November, winning by a narrow decision.
Sarita told Boxing King Media that a rematch between the two Britons would make little sense.
“Dillian White fighting Anthony Joshua in the summer says nothing to me. This is not a statement against Anthony Joshua, it is celebrity boxing. celebrities boxing.”
“It’s like Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor. It’s like Floyd Mayweather fighting Manny Pacquiao. At one point there were two very good fighters, but now Dillian White is 1-3 if you count his fights with Jermaine, which should really count as a loss but was stopped [in his other defeats]”
“He’s a big name and I think Dillian has that in him. He’ll probably fight one more time, but he needs to fight guys like Jermaine and Otto Wallin. Demsey not someone real [McKean] A real man that people can say, “Dillian still has it, he’s fine.” Only then will the fight with Joshua be meaningful. “
“Purely as a boxing fan, Dillian White vs. Anthony Joshua today is a big event. Not a big fight.”
With “AJ” making a comeback in April, it looks like the Sarita guy will be Joshua’s next contender. A fight that even Eddie Hearn admitted would be the difference between success or failure for the two-time heavyweight champion.
