The SEC heavyweight delivered a technical knockout to his opponent before the game ended prematurely.
Alabama made 14 3-pointers in the first half to fill LSU in the 37-point halftime hole on Saturday and won the final 20 minutes at the Coleman Coliseum, 106-66.
By the end of the rout, Alabama had attempted 54 3-pointers. This is his second-highest record in SEC history. It was 20 people, the fourth most in school history.
Alabama’s 40-point gap was the biggest SEC victory since they beat Auburn 94-53 in 2005.
The end result left no doubt that the #4 Tide was the SEC team, topping the conference standings with an unblemished 5-0 record.

Freshman Brandon Miller nearly singled out LSU in the first half, scoring 22 points on a 6-9 3-point shooter before Alabama went into halftime with a 59-22 lead. After 33 3-pointers attempted in the first half and time expired, Jaden Bradley banked into the basket from the backboard for a final desperate surge from halfcourt.
The Alabama players hit 14 triples in a narrow shot of a second-half comeback, leaving the rebuilding Tigers behind, and celebrated with Bradley as he walked into the locker room for a break.
Nate Oates was back on the bench for much of the second half, and the three-point barrage subsided. Alabama started 14-1 after halftime, with Miller leading the final make-up. He scored 31 points on 7-of-11 3-point shots in a season-low 24 minutes.
But Alabama heated up in the final minutes, making five straight 3-pointers in less than five minutes to play. Walk-ons Delaney Hurd and Jaden Quinally had two more shots that missed in his final 66 seconds.
Alabama’s 54 attempts were the most by a Division I team this season. They tied Arkansas’ 54 in his Dec. 30, 1998 victory over Texas as the most three-point attempts in a regulation game in the SEC’s record books, and were tied in the 2020 overtime loss at Auburn. Alabama’s 59 remains a conference record.
On Saturday, Alabama made 20 3-pointers for the second time this season. They tied for fourth in SEC history, defeating Jacksonville State University by 42 points in November by 21 points. Alabama has the conference record of 23 makes in the 2021 road wins at LSU.
A three-point shot wasn’t the extent of Alabama’s dominance over LSU.
Alabama have flipped the ball just eight times, the third time in their last four games, and have kept the number of spins in the single digits. He posted double-digit turnovers in every other game this season.
Alabama made 80% of their free throws (16-20), their third-highest percentage of the season. Although the Tigers shot 38% (8-of-21) on 3-pointers, LSU’s shooting percentage from the field was his 29.5%, his third against Alabama this season. It was a bad number for me.
Miller joins Mark Sears (12 points), Rylan Griffen (12 points), Jarvon Quinery (12 points) and Nick Pringle (10 points) in double figures. Quinally scored his 4/8 in 3-point shooting, the most success from across the arc this season.
Alabama will play on tour next week at Vanderbilt on Tuesday night and twice in Missouri on Saturday.
